Canara Bank hikes daily debit card transaction limit for ATM withdrawals, POS, online transactions

Canara Bank has announced a revision in its daily debit card transaction limit for ATM cash withdrawals, Point of Sale (POS) and e-commerce transactions for its customers with immediate effect, according to information on its official website.

The daily ATM cash withdrawal cap for Classic Debit Card has been raised from Rs 40,000 to Rs 75,000. The POS limit for these cards would increase from the present limit of Rs 1,00,000 to Rs. 2,00,000 per day. For NFC(contactless), the bank has not hiked any amount, the limit is still set at Rs 25,000.

Note that contactless transactions allowed up to Rs 5000 per occasion and 5 transactions per day.

According to the Canara Bank website, “As per RBI guidelines for enhanced security on card transactions, by default cards issued are enabled for Domestic usage at ATMs & POS only. International/online (e-commerce) usage & contactless usage functionality (in contactless cards) are disabled at the time of card issuance. Customers are facilitated with switch on/off and set limits on the card channel-wise (ATM/ POS/ E-Commerce, domestic/international, NFCcontactless), through ATM/Branch/Mobile Banking/Internet Banking/IVRS.”

PNB debit card transactions

Punjab National Bank has recommended a modification to the debit card transaction limit for premium variations. According to the PNB website, the bank intends to raise the limit on all platinum MasterCard, Rupay, and VISA Gold Debit Cards, as well as Rupay Select and VISA Signature Debit Cards.

HDFC Bank credit card transactions

HDFC Bank has modified the charge structure for rent payments made through third-party merchants. According to the HDFC Bank website, “for rent payments made through third-party merchants, a fee of 1% of the total transaction amount will be applied beginning with the second rental transaction of the calendar month.”
